Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail

Super trail!

April, 2025 by dpate

I road the Waxahachie Creek trail in early April 2025 on a beautiful sunny day. This is a short but great trail. It is smooth cement the entire way mostly winding through woods. I am not sure that it's quite six miles. A very enjoyable trail that I rate FIVE stars!

Cotton Belt Trail (Waco)

Access is open

Parked at Trailblazer Park. Nice and peaceful walk. Just enough nature for children or those not too adventurous. Bridge is a must-see. Seems nice for solo or group walks.

Village Creek Trail

Ride approx 23 miles if you want! ¿

February, 2025 by gbmarlin

This 5 mile section of trail runs along a busy road, and is in the sun, BUT I’m so glad it’s there because Village Creek blends into River Legacy Park trail system, giving you approx 25 miles round trip! It’s a wide concrete trail about 5 ft from the road in most areas. (I feel safe riding here.) That being said, this trail system will be even longer once they open the new section of trail! The plan is to connect trails between Fort Worth and Dallas. I understand that new system will be called Discovery Trail which will be over 100 miles!

River Legacy Trail

great ride

Much if the trail to the right of entrance closed off. Didn’t get a chance to ride the lake route. Otherwise nice ride.

Waco Lake Hike and Bike Trail

a long straight ride with a view

August, 2024 by brian_thomas

As an engineer, I found this trail very interesting. It passes over a dam and the mechanisms that open and close the gates are clearly visible. The elevation of the dam provides a good view. Mostly unshaded.

If you continue north on the Riverwalk trail and do not cross the pedestrian bridge you will reach some amazing mountain bike trails!

Cotton Belt Trail (Waco)

Under Construction!

April, 2024 by hwilson3

As mentioned by a March 2024 reviewer, access to the trail from Trail Blazer Park is not possible. After driving to the other end of the trail (parking near the landfill at 31.480351887289, -97.25833084813019 ) we discovered the trail itself is torn up from Church St all the way to Trail Blazer Park. It appears there's a flood control project in work?

Also slightly disappointing the base of the trail under the concrete apparently wasn't compacted well as the surface is cracking badly in many places. This damage will need repair at some point.

It's a short ride (due to the construction) but still worth it.

Cotton Belt Trail

Colleyville city- Cotton Belt Trail Review

March, 2024 by leytonlehner

I walked along the Cotton Belt trail with my sister and father on a nice Thursday night. The trail happens to go through our neighborhood and area (as well as Hurst, Grapevine, and North Richland Hills.) and thought it would be a wonderful experience to go on. The Cotton Belt trail is home to many attractions and gentle scenery along its paths. From what I can see from the Colleyville portion of the path, most of the trail is kept clean by the community, and the people who live along the trail enjoy the walks they get; However, I did see trash in the brush around the path. A thing I believe that could be improved is possibly wider paths for more people to walk on at once, but also keep a distance from others. The trail provides trash cans along the path, as well as bags for dog poop. The Colleyville trail still has a lot of wildlife, while also being in an urban area. I believe this trail is a great place to go and see nature outside while enjoying it thoroughly. It's great for children of all ages, and even for a quiet walk away from the troubles of life. It's a wonderful place to go and I thoroughly enjoyed the gift and creation from God, and I felt more connected with him and the community as I enjoyed the amazing experience they had given me.

Bridges through the trees

March, 2024 by brian_thomas

The entry from Trail Blazer Park was closed for construction (March 2024) so we started at the end near the landfill. It has easy parking, was clean and well-maintained. The elevated bridges wind through the trees - very nice. I’ll be back!

Waco Riverwalk

north side stadium paths

December, 2023 by brian_thomas

This is a gem for Waco. The trail now includes much of the north side as well as the south side of the Brazos river. Baylor University built MacLane stadium (2014) on the north side and that opened up a lot more paths. I crossed over the Brazos on the pedestrian bridge and was able to access the trail all the way to the Washington St. Bridge, passing underneath I 35.

Inline Skate Here All The Time

May, 2023 by jimenagpacheco462

I love inline skating here. The path is never too crowded, there are nice views, and up and down inclines come and go with some nice shade from time to time. Be very careful, however. There are wooden bridges and frequent intersections you have to cross. You need to know how to slow down, stop, and jump with relative ease on skates in order to enhance your experience here. All in all, this is a great workout. Bring plenty of water and wear protective gear.
